God is not bound by man’s conventions
He does not conform to how man thinks,
He neither values fame nor fortune,
The pride of life to Him but stinks;
Men’s titles and honours are all of no moment,
Whether prelates, popes, cardinals, lords,
Presidents, M.Ps, kings and queens,
And all that warrant man’s vain applause.
Celebrity status is sought by the millions,
Man falls at the feet of his heroes and stars,
Trend and fashion’s but fleeting and transient,
Men follow a dream that’s as distant as Mars;
But God sees the heart of each individual,
The Kingdom of Heaven is not gaiters and robes,
Position and power should be used for service,
Not for an ego trip, worship and shows.
To use the gifts, we have received
For our own selfish ends is quite wrong,
We may be famous, wealthy too,
Through acting, performing or song,
We may have become a leader of men,
Applauded for what we achieve,
But to teach men lies, to compromise truth,
Is a broken trust we will grieve.
God judges the heart of celebrities too,
Money and fame exclude none,
Rather are they more answerable
For the lives they live before God;
The lies and deceit they must answer for,
Their example that leads men astray,
They teach their followers to live for themselves
And one day they surely will pay.
“Come! Learn of Me!” Jesus said,
“To be meek and lowly in heart,”
Found in the form of God was He,
But made Himself nought from the start;
Of no reputation He sought to be,
But God exalted Him high,
He sought no position or power for Himself,
But has saved the whole world by His life.
Man compromises what God has established,
He changes God’s truth to a lie,
So, God gives them up to vile affections,
They seek what God doth deny:
So, men burn with lust toward one another,
Women abuse natural use,
Receiving the recompense of their wickedness,
A reprobate mind blindly choose.
They call the Word of God outdated –
“Written for a bygone age!”
But they can’t avoid the consequences:
A reprobate mind they engage,
Fornication once tasted ensnares and binds,
Hearts are broken and true love lost,
Lust’s insatiable appetite craves and drives
To selfish fulfilment, at cost.
Look at the world and see where it’s going,
Then see what God has to say.
Same sex relationships taught to our children,
Sex outside marriage, the way,
A multitude of consequences,
With broken hearts and lives,
Single parents, children scarred,
Disease, abortions rife.
“We’ll throw more money at education,”
Our government insists today,
And deeper into this jungle they go
Ignoring what God has to say:
He states they are “without understanding,”
“Inventors of evil things,”
“Without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful,”
And everything else that it brings:
“Covetous, malicious, envious, murderous,
Back-biters, haters of God,
Disobedient to parents, proud and boasters” –
Isn’t this the world that we’ve got?
Authority’s thrown God’s Word in the bin,
And God lets them do what they will,
Professing themselves to be wise, they are fools,
God waits and watches them still.
The world is gripped in a vortex of death,
Destroying millions of lives,
But God has provided a way of escape
By turning from sin to Christ:
His Word is the same, yesterday and forever,
And God will not change just for us,
The learned of this world are wasting their time
Until they turn back to God.
“There is nothing new ‘neath, the sun,” God has said.
But in God there’s so much to explore,
To glorify God as God as we know Him
Miraculously opens the door:
There is a Day of Judgement coming
For each and every one,
Some will receive the wrath of God
For every dark deed they have done.
Anguish and tribulation shall fall
On all who obey not the truth,
Our hearts are exposed before God every day
And He needs no further proof;
There is no respect of persons with God,
And those who repent, shall rise
To have glory and honour and peace with Him,
Immortality, eternal life.
God can break the bondage of sin
Where everything else has failed,
Immorality and every addiction
To the Cross of Christ has been nailed,
If we only cry, “God have mercy on me,
Forgive me and show me the way,”
God will cleanse the wickedest soul there is,
And provide salvation this day!
