From an ark adrift in the bulrushes,
From the cry of an innocent babe,
From a tear of compassion from a princess,
From a tear for a condemned slave,
From that teardrop lost in the river,
From that tear which ran down her face,
From that tear of such humble beginnings
Came the change for the whole human race.
Through a tear God can change the course of history,
Through a tear, He freed a nation of slaves,
That tear trickling down a maiden’s cheek
Forged a way through the sea’s angry waves,
God is Master of man’s salvation,
He can hear the afflicted cry,
He can move on the heart of a heathen maid
Whose father decreed, “They shall die!”
Through a tear drop that passes unnoticed
God weaves his intricate design,
He has not forgotten His loved ones,
He’s planned from beginnings of time,
Despise not the day of small things,
From a seed doth a mighty oak grow,
“Not by might, not by power, but My Spirit,”
And a tear can deliverance bestow.
