A Church is the place for the sinner,
Not for the self-righteous, the good and the holy,
The Church is a place to meet the Saviour,
The place for the “down-and-out” and lowly.
The Church is for the searching,
For those seeking guidance in life,
For the disillusioned by success or wealth,
Or poverty, homelessness, or strife.
The Church is for the lost and lonely,
Those who once knew better days,
But they don’t want a life of discipline,
To be told to “mend your ways!”
They don’t want to hear, “Thou shalt not…!”
They don’t want control anymore,
They want to feel they are wanted,
And the Church is an open door.
Every person on earth responds to love,
True love, unselfish and sound,
And the only safe place of true love is God,
In God alone can this true love be found!
The Love of God extends to the sinner,
“That can’t be right!” some ignorantly say,
The doors of the true Church are always open
For sinners of all kinds, straight or gay.
God so loved the world that He sent His Son
To die to pay for the sins of mankind,
This Love exceeds all human love,
But is offered for all who are seeking to find.
So, the Church is for those who can’t find love,
The place where all searching can cease,
The place aside from the turmoil and frustrations,
A place where you’ll truly find peace!
And if you don’t find this love when you call,
Don’t give up, call on God and pray,
And the Lord that loved you before your birth,
Will guide you to True Love, for He is the Way!
