“There’s always someone worse than me!”
Is what we often hear
As we grasp at straws of comfort
To quell our every fear.
The unknown can be foreboding,
Knowing not what lies before,
And oft we can be overwhelmed
To stand at death’s dark door.
Some doctors think it wise to leave
A deformed newborn babe to die,
But maybe they know not the mind of God
And cannot His purpose espy.
NICK VUJICIC, born without arms or legs
Found in God a purpose unforeseen,
The Gospel he’s taken to over 3 million people,
In 14 countries he has been!
To wash, to shave, to clean his teeth,
To brush his hair, to drink and be fed,
With all basic, bodily functions needing help,
From daybreak till he goes to bed.
Bullied at school to become head boy,
Then wins a degree, poking fun at his lot.
He jokes, plays golf, swims and drives,
He teaches, “Be thankful for what you have got.”
Life’s gravest tragedies can make us dream
Of what God can do with our lives,
But a purpose beyond all we can imagine
Can help us not to “just survive.”
He brought millions to Jesus to repent
In tears as broken they stood,
The young and the old to witness
The joy of truly knowing God.
Nick finds it a pleasure to live
And serve the Lord that he loves:
Carried about and stood on a table
To tell of his joy in his Savior above.
JONI ERICKSON TADA
Is another example of faith,
Who at 17, the peak of her teenage years
Had an accident as she dived into a lake.
She broke her neck as she dived into shallow water
And from that accident in Chesapeake Bay
From her spine down, she was helpless,
Paralyzed, in a wheelchair, to stay.
She hissed at heaven, became angry at God,
In darkness, suicidal, in chronic pain,
Till God removed her heart of stone
To witness to the cripple, the blind and the lame.
She witnesses to countless, disabled people
From her wheelchair, her platform to the world,
Powerfully preaching to millions of listeners
That the lost to God be restored.
God will never leave nor abandon us
Whatever the circumstance,
He can turn the most horrendous condition
To a purpose only He can enhance.
His love gives us contentment in Jesus
Far beyond our helpless state,
And a purpose for living we never expected
And this love for Him will never abate.
God hates suffering although He allowed
His Son to pay the price for our sin on the Cross,
But the sufferings of this present time are not worthy
To be compared with the glory to be revealed in us!
